A Lil Bit of Flavor Makes All the Difference

I haven't been writing in a long time. But I tried making nasi tomato or tomato rice yesterday and wanna write d recipe down so I won't forget. My friends liked it. So here it goes:

Recipe for tomato rice, chicken in spicy tomato sauce (ayam masak merah) & vegetable (acar)

Tomato Rice

2 cups of brasmathi rice

2 cups of water

2 tablespoons of butter

2 cloves of garlic

1 shallot

1 inch of ginger

1 cube of chicken stock

1 cinnamon stick (kayu manis)

1 star anise (bunga lawang)

2 cloves (bunga cengkih)

2 cardamom (pelaga)

3 tablespoons of tomato puree

Steps:

1. Switch your rice cooker to 'on' and once hot, put in 2 tablespoons of butter. U can use ghee or margarine (personal preference)

2. Throw in shallots and garlic with the 4 spices

3. Leave to simmer for a minute or two

4. Put in a cube of chicken stock

5. Put in 3 tablespoons of tomato puree

6. Stir

7. Put in 2 cups of rice with 2 cups of water

8. Stir and leave it to cook like how you would do for plain rice

Chicken in Spicy Tomato Sauce (1 whole chicken)

1. 400 g of tomato puree

2. 3 tablespoons of chili powder (dilute with a little water)

3. 2 bulbs of garlic

4. 4 shallots

5. 1 inch of ginger

6. 2 sticks of lemongrass

7. 1 cinnamon stick

8. 3 star anise

9. 3 cloves

10. 4 cardamom

11. 4/5 tablespoons of cooking oil

12. 1 cup of water

13. some sugar and salt to taste

14. some tomatoes (if preferred)

15. 3 tablespoons of tumeric powder

Steps:

1. Marinate chicken for half and hour or more with turmeric and salt

2. Fry chicken (3/4 done)

3. Prepare separate pan with heated oil (preferably taken from leftover oil from the fried chicken)

4. Throw in garlic, shallots and ginger

5. Simmer till fragrant

6. Throw in spices

7. Put in chili paste and stir for about 5 minutes until chili is cooked

8. Put in 400 g of tomato puree and stir for a few minutes till boil

9. Put in chicken that was fried earlier

10. Stir until chicken is covered with spicy tomato paste

11. Cook for about 15 minutes

12. Put in salt and sugar to taste

Vegetable (acar)

1. 4 cucumber (sliced thin)

2. half packet of baby carrots (sliced thin)

3. 1 large onion (sliced)

4. 2 cloves of garlic (pounded)

4. 1/2 tablespoon of turmeric powder

5. 4 tea spoons of vinegar

6. 1/2 tablespoon of red chili paste

7. Salt to taste

8. Sugar to taste

9. 1 cup of water

Steps:

1. Leave sliced cucumber and carrots in salted water for about 15 minutes

2. Remove water

3. Heat pan with 2 tablespoon of cooking oil

3. Throw in garlic and let simmer

4. Add turmeric powder and chili paste

5. Stir for 2-3 minutes

6. Put in cucumber and carrots

7. Add 1 cup of water

8. Add vinegar, sugar and salt

9. Leave to boil

10. Vegetable is ready

I thought I was gonna start writing again, (referring to my previous post), but I didn't.

I could have found the time, but the mood to blog hasn't really kicked in yet :p

Anyway, I'm back in KL!!

Touched down in KUL on Monday nite. Emirates was my airline of choice this time. Route I took was JFK-DBX-KUL since the flight's layover is the shortest - 2 1/2 hours since I travelled alone. Hubby is busy with work and can't follow me home plus PM and our Agong is in NYC, and he needs to be around.

Right now it's 6:10 a.m. I've been awake since 4 a.m. Still not adjusted to Malaysia time zone. urgh. I'm hungry at odd times and my sleep pattern is still haywire. I'm super hungry now.

So far since I got here, I had lontong, nasi with lauk-lauk Melayu, roti canai, maggi goreng, duku langsat.. Next on list: mee goreng mamak. Can I have that for breakfast today? Hungryyy.

2 months hiatus!

It's been quite long since I last blogged.

I think since I last wrote:

1. Hubby and I made a business/leisure trip to Boston, went up to Maine to have big, fat, fresh lobsters and made a few more trips to NYC....

2. I spent a whole 10 days with my bestie in Chicago while hubby flew back to Malaysia & HK for business...

3. Got a birthday surprise from hubby - a dinner cruise on Odyssey...

4. Celebrated 4th of July watching fireworks in D.C (which was also my birthday weekend!)

5. Moved to a new apartment - on the 26th floor with a view of D.C...

6. Did I miss anything? Maybe I did, 2 months is a long time!

Here I am eating a piece of cheesecake, waiting for hubby to come home.

The Brazil vs. North Korea much was disappointing. Although it was a 2-1 game, I still think Brazil could have played better. Hoping for a better match against Ivory Coast.

I was chatting with my friend just now, and we're thinking about another movie date sometime next week. We watched Sex & the City 2 together and another chick flick is always tempting. Always better to watch with the laydees. No offence to hubby dearest, you're still my favorite movie date ;)

Sun & Sea

I've been meaning to write, but always end up not writing because of my l.a.z.i.n.e.s.s.

But anyhow, here I am writing because it's 8:50 p.m. and hubby's on a conference call with Malaysia.

Last weekend was Memorial Weekend here, so we spent it in Ocean City Maryland. Beach weekend was great as the weather was warm and just perfect for it. We also took a drive up to Rehoboth Beach in Delaware, about half an hour away. 2 beaches in one weekend = purrfect.

One thing about the state of Delaware is that there is no sales tax! A good reason to do more shopping! So we headed to Tanger Outlet and spent a few hours there and came back with a few shopping bags including a new pair of bikini for me. heh

And the other thing about the sea that you can't offered to miss is..... seafood! And the most popular here are crabs! So that's what we did. We had crabs and calamari twice during the 2 nights we were there.

This is where we had our lunch, before we left for D.C. Yum!

Ocean City would definitely be a place we would go again this summer.

As my hubby and I are currently residing in the east coast, I presumed that the weather was gonna be a lil warmer, and I packed some light clothing with the aim to enjoy a lil bit of the sun. It was about 10 deg. Celsius in D.C. at that time. (Although hubby has checked the forecast beforehand and said the weather was gonna be chilly, but there I was hoping for it to not be :p) But of course, we went prepared.

But it was just about the same. The flight took us about 5 1/2 hours to reach one of the big cities in California. Picked up our rental car, and we were on our way. The 2 things I wanted to revisit was definitely the Golden Gate and Fisherman's Wharf; and we did.

Pier 39 - one of the tourist attractions here. a must go.

We had lunch at a seafood restaurant overlooking the marina. Beautiful.

Here's a short video of the sea lions - we took a 60 min cruise around San Francisco. They took us around Alcatraz, Golden Gate and Bay Bridge (the sister bridge of Golden Gate) Oh how glad I had my jacket with me, it was freezing!

Ohh.. one other thing about the west coast, it's only a 18-hour flight back to Malaysia :p

The City that Never Sleeps

I know I haven't been updating much. Been busy! This domestic goddess is busy learning how to run the house!

I am now learning the ropes on how to be a wife - the cooking, the cleaning, the decorating... and it's also my first time operating machines - the washing machine, blender, oven etc (oops, not proud of it, but that's d reality, i've always had my bibik a.k.a maid to do all d stuff and my darling mom is always around)

And yes, I'm learning how to cook too! I do it at least 3 times a week :) Simple stuff, really.

Anyway, the past April, we've been traveling quite a bit. We were in San Francisco, CA and was in NYC twice. Nobody can have too much of New York :) And of course, we drove up to Woodbury Commons when we were in NY (on both trips, of course), coz it's the BEST place to shop!!

Cherry Blossoms Everywhere

The Cherry Blossom Festival is gathered by many from all over the country. And this year, I get to attend this too! There were over hundreds species of cherry blossoms or the 'sakura', and there were probably 3000 over trees around the Tidal Basin.

Simply beautiful. Most of them were in the softest shade of pink. You can find white ones too.

The time we went the flowers are almost in full bloom and by now the trees should already be all green. There were lots of people and the weather was purrfect!

The next time anyone plans to come to DC, plan it around the end of March to first week of April so u get to catch this event!

I'm craving for them!

Before we leave the country for the States, my beautiful friends treated us to two dinners.. at Opus in Bangsar and then at Fatty Crab, Taman Megah. I was just transferring the pics from my camera to my MacBook.. and I was just thinking to myself how good these crabs are. Goodness. How I wish I can have some NOW!

Thanks guys for the wonderful treat. Anyone knows Fatty Crab's secret recipe? haha Don't we all wish we had it!

I've been cooking just a bit since we got here. Nothing too complicated tho. I'm a newbie remember? Sometimes I just use the packet stuff a.k.a Brahims :p

I made bolognese today. Quite good if you ask me... I used Prego :)

It's only 8, but I'm already sleepy.

It must be the weather. It hasn't rained since I got here, and tonight it looks like its gonna be a chilly and windy night. It's about 13 degrees celsius outside, but it's d wind chill that makes it extra chilly.

I decided to shut the window because the wind was pretty strong and right now I'm under the covers planning to watch Entourage. I've watched 4 episodes of Season 1 earlier today. The show's alright, but nothing great. My current favorite that tops my list is still Gossip Girl. heh

Wait, The House Bunny is on Encore. I think I'll watch this instead :p

Half Way Across the Globe

It's been ages since I last blogged. More than a month definitely. I was bogged down with work, wedding planning, post-wedding stuff - the packing, the visiting, the farewell dinners, family stuff etc.

I'm now in Washington D.C. We left Malaysia on the 31st, early Wednesday morning at 2:55 a.m. The 25 hour flight was tiring but Qatar's entertainment system was above the mark. Better than MAS if you ask me.

New life.

New place.

New role as a wife.

Still adjusting and getting the hang of it. Except the cooking and the other domestic stuff :P

The winter in D.C has been so bad this time round. Fiance took 3 hours to shovel snow from his car a few days ago! Now D.C has broken it's record of 54.9 inches snow.

The 3 major airports in Washington D.C were closed due to this. And the weather man did mention that this 'snowzilla' would continue until Monday :(

Good thing fiance is traveling in the West Coast to attend a few meetings with his clients. He just flew into L.A from San Fran a while ago.

Hope everything will be under control before he flies back to D.C.

A-Z of These Few Weeks

I have been neglecting my blog for quite some time.
Besides 2-3 liners, I haven't shared much.

I've been very busy, obviously. With wedding preparations, my work, leave, sorting out other related stuff, etc.

That reminds me, I need inform Lake Club that I will be out of the country for a year, if not I'll be paying monthly membership fees when I won't be using the facilities at all.

Unpaid leave has been approved. My last day is on the 18th of February. It feels rather sad leaving my colleagues. But of course, not having to wake up at 6:30 am everyday to make it to work at 8 is total bliss! :p

For the past few weeks, my days have been exceptional longggg.
So much to do. Not enough rest.

The wedding invitation are out, and all my guests are suppose to RSVP by the 14th. So that's done until the 14th that is.

Fiance's coming back in 2 weeks time. Yeay! So will little sis, who will be back on the 24th.

My baju's 50% done, fiance's baju for nikah and the reception will be tailor made on the 22nd once he arrives. I've informed Salikin Sidek countless times on this and he promise me 2 baju's for him for our Wedding Day. Insyallah, everything would go well.

My wedding shoes for the reception is another story. I'm still contemplating whether I should make them at Salikin Sidek or not. The easiest would be to have him do mine. At least that's off my shoulder.

We haven't had time to think about our honeymoon, although fiance would love it if we could go to Bali before we head back to the US. Hope we will be able to slot us some time for that - so that's another thing to discuss besides the 1001 other things :P

Our trip back to the US has been confirmed. We're flying by Qatar on the 31st of March - one of the few airlines that flies to DC, instead of New York.

So Kuala Lumpur - Doha - Washington D.C it is.

I'll stop here for now. Too many things on my mind, and I'm just writing whatever that crosses my mind.

I Can't Ask For More

I am thinking about putting my wedding ticker up.

It's less than 2 months to my Big Day! Goodness, how time flies.

Mr. H is now starting to plan his trip back home, prolly 2 weeks before the wedding I think. But of course, if he were to come back sooner, I'd be more than happy :) I know that's stretching it a bit, he has to work to feed his wife-to-be right? hehe

I'm still getting used to the title Mr. H's fiance, and now I'm gonna be his wife soon. Excited, nervous, I'm having all sort of feelings but I can't be happier! Looking forward to better days, insyallah.

And yes, I've been repeating this to my mom since I got engaged... "Mommy, bila nak visit?"
It would be hard to be far away from my parents; starting a whole new life without them nearby, but with Mr. H around, I'm sure everything's gonna be just fine.

Can't Wait for the Next Long Weekend

Good weekend, most definitely.

I caught up with friends over lunch and a wedding dinner on Friday, a bit of body pampering and coffee after on Saturday and a little shopping and dinner on Sunday...........

Plus I attended a kenduri at my grandaunt's in Bangsar on Saturday night. After the kenduri we sat around and I was entertained by my nieces and nephews.

Didn't get the dancing and singing acts on camera though. But they were adorable :)

The spa thingy was a last minute thing actually, a good friend of mine will be getting hitch on Boxing Day, so she wanted to do another round of 'spa-ing' before her Big Day. I decided to join her and I was to decide on a place. So, I managed to come across Khareyana Spa by googling. I've never heard of the place before, but decided to give it a try since the place looked quite nice on its website plus it was featured on NTV7's Life Session (a show I've never watched, but since it has appeared on TV, must be something right?)

And the other happy thing is, on Sunday, I managed to reserve a pair of Aldo's I've eyed on in Bangsar Village on Friday!
They only had the display unit, which I didn't want. So the SA in BV told me they had a pair in One Utama (after I told him to check, he was pretty slow in service :p).
And so I went yesterday to OU. Little did I know, it was also the display unit!! But the SA I dealt with in OU was helpful. He called Aldo in The Gardens, and they didn't have it in my size. He told me to walk around and he'll make a few calls to the other outlets.

About 20 minutes later he called, he said there is a pair (brand new not display :p) in Penang.

Weeee!

They will be sending the pair down to KL in 3-5 days time. That really made my day.

Went home... a good friend came over... then decided to go 'Fatty Crabbing' with a few others.

The Third Month of Two Zero One Zero

Insyallah, in less than 4 months, this is how I imagine myself.

Online shopping. Body pampering. Travelling. Cooking. Dress Me Pretty. Studying again?

It will be a different lifestyle altogether, since for the past 6 years, my life has been pretty much about work from Monday till Friday, some family time after work, and on most weekends - hanging out with friends.

It's gonna be different, I know. It would take some time to adjust, but I'm looking forward to it :)

I've discussed with my boss, and all seems well. Alhamdulillah.
The reaction I got from my bosses was not what I expected, and I'm thankful they are quite supportive. I haven't official applied for my unpaid leave yet, but more or less, I think everything will work out just fine.

Except that the HR circular only allows me to take a year maximum throughout my service for the company. So that leaves me with a few other options - to continue my studies or to seek other work opportunities outside.. or become a tai-tai hehe

I haven't decided which path to take yet, but I've got a lot of time to think, at least not until the end of 2010.. It also depends on Mr. H. He hasn't decided on the offer yet, and if he says yes, we might be moving to the west coast. Warmer weather and nearer to Malaysia :)

I don't think I wanna go ahead with the Hawaii trip next month. I don't feel it's right since I'll be leaving just two month after. I've got to start delegating my work to my colleagues and I think it's best for me to be around.

Fiancee has been very supportive throughout the whole planning and decision making.. what works best for me is what's most important he said. *love xoxoxo*

I'm too lazy to write these days, been caught up with a few things:

My TV!!

I noticed a constant purple vertical line on my LCD tv a few days ago.. which is not even a year old!
I called Sharp, and thank god that it was still under warranty, and they got it fixed just today. They changed the whole LCD panel!
According to the technician, if I found out after the warranty expires, might as well I get a new TV, cause the panel is really expensive, around 4-5K!

One Item Down

Singapore was great.

Although it rained most evening.

Shopping at Orchard was very tempting. But with the exchange rate at 2.45, I refrain myself from spending on anything other than what's on my wedding list.

The sales hasn't started yet, but the Christmas decos are all up. Be-yooo-tee-ful.

Anyway, I got my bedlinens! Yeay!
I picked Sheridan. Although it's expensive, (I can get an LV bag with it!) I'm satisfied. It's not the lacy type everyone normally uses on their wedding day, that's just not me. I'm a minimalist, so simple lines with the touch of elegance is what I go for. Boring as some might say, but I believe that less is more :)

Still working on this particular item on my list..... my wedding dress!

Mr. H has left for the states last night. I won't be seeing him till February..
Insyallah, the last separation before the wedding day :)

Why Hasn't He?

I've submitted my leave on 3rd November, and my boss hasn't approved my leave yet till today. I'm going to Johor and then to Singapore until Wednesday. Which leaves me with just one more working day - tomorrow.

Aiyaaaa.... why so susah meh?

This time I'll only be taking 3 days compared to the 2-2.5 weeks I normally take for my overseas trips.

I sent his an reminder through email this morning, I bet he noticed it. What's going on?

I am having a bad cold and I've been sneezing so much that my eyes are watery and red.
All I want now is to leave the office, head home & take Panadol soluble before I sleep.

I've finish 1/4 box of tissues today, I think.

I don't get colds often, I think this is the first time this year, and when it comes, it can be quite bad.

Triple dose of vitamin C before I go to sleep tonite.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

My weekend plans are:

1. Kursus kahwin @ Pusat Bandar Damansara

It's time.
I'm a little nervous coz I really don't know what to expect, but I heard good reviews of Ustaz Fauzi from the web... Wish Mr. H & I luck!
Mr. H is back in KL for the course and his sister's wedding next weekend... his last trip to KL before our big day in March 2010. We're trying to squeeze as many things as we can before he heads back to the US.

Wedding prep mood - ON!

2. Another trip to the designer's

I'm gonna check out my wedding dresses' designs at Salikin Sidek. I went to his place last weekend with no clue on how I want my wedding dress to be - except for my nikah which I decided to be a modern kurung. And after some discussion, his designer promised to show me 5-6 designs this weekend. For the groom, I don't think it should be much of a problem.

Hope we'll like it! I decided to give Salikin a try, since some of you recommended him strongly. Thank you babes!

And you just put it aside as you don't wanna be bringing up unnecessary issues?

Destination is tempting. Plus I can shop for my wedding! Woot!

But............ I told Mr. H, 'kalo pergi, takut hitam...'

He said it's gonna be winter, and we can stay out of the sun. haha

It'd be nice to go, and this time there shouldn't be a problem with my leave since it's gonna be in January next year, so I'd have another 22 days...

The only thing is whether my boss will let me go for a week or two...

Maybe I could submit the quarterly report earlier perhaps??
Is SIRIM gonna be auditing us then? Hopefully not!

I thought it'd be a good idea to go survey, window shop, and maybe shop, since soon enough I would have to start shopping for my Big Day!
So since I'll be heading down to Johor for my sis-in-law to be's wedding next month, I thought might as well I spend a few days in Singapore.

So one night in Johor and 3 nights in Singapore. Yeayy.

A Fun Way to Do IT!

I watched Channel E yesterday, and they were talking about Madonna and how she keeps herself fit, and she owes it all to her personal trainer Tracy Anderson. It does look like Tracy's workouts seem to work really well!

And one of the things she uses for her workouts is.........

I want a Wii Fit!

I told Mr. H about it, and he said yes, we can get it once I'm in the US. Yeay!! Something to motivate me to exercise :p

Anyway, I was supposed to hit the gym today after work, but I woke up late, and didn't have time to pack my clothes this morning (a lame excuse, I know :p)

I shall get my things ready tonight, so I won't have an excuse tomorrow!

It is the best day of the week, because in a few hours, it will be the weekend!

And today is a special day for me since it was my very first time trying nasi kukus!

It was a spur of the moment kinda thing actually. The initial plan was to eat at Nirwana Maju, since it has been a while since I had this good sinful meal. But my colleagues and I ended up at this kedai nasi kukus right above the Bangsar Village basement parking (not the one adjoining the mall, but the one that has a few rows of stalls above it).

Here's the story:
After we found a parking spot, we were so hungry we were talking about food :p As as we were babling about food, food and food, my colleagues and I changed our minds to eat at 'kedai panas' instead. It's not the name of the place, but it's what I call it :p It serves good western food for very cheap. 10bucks for grilled chicken with sidelines in Bangsar. Cheap right? But of course, since it's not in an airconditioned building, so it can be pretty hot at midday. Hence, the 'kedai panas' name :p

As we walked pass a few stalls at the area, we changed our minds (again!). It was because of the aroma of seasoned chicken/ayam rempah from another stall. It was sooooo tempting. And this time we made up our minds to try the nasi kukus and ayam rempah instead!

The nasi kukus and ayam rempah was something we didn't regret. Simply delicious!

And the heavenly meal, we adjourned to BVII. My colleague wanted to check something out at L'occitane. While she was at it, I got something for myself too. Not at L'occitane, but at Haagan Daz! I tried the limited edition flavour. I think the name was berries & cream.

Gosh, I think I weigh a tonne now :p

My Big Project No. 2

The 2 most important things in my to-do list are:

1. Wedding prep
2. Learn how to COOK!

I'm bad at cooking.
Let me rephrase that.
I can't say I'm bad or not, because I don't know how. And I need to learn.... pronto!

I've got less than 6 months to learn, should be enough time, right? *worried*

Since I know some of you are your partner's personal chef, please, please, please share with me your secret!
I've tried googling 'resepi masakan melayu' and there were a number of hits. Not sure which one I should pick.
If you have any recipes you don't mind sharing with me or you know any websites that can help me with this big project of mine, your ideas and thoughts are most welcome!

Some of the things I want to learn how to cook:
1. Nasi lemak & the sambal too
2. Rendang ayam/daging (which one is easier?)
3. Nasi tomato (it's my favorite, so I must learn, right?)
4. Nasi ayam
5. Gulai lemak ayam/daging/ikan masin
6. Ayam masak merah
7. Ayam/Daging/Ikan masak kicap
8. Soto
9. All the other malay dishes you can think of!
10. Oh yeah, dal for the nasi tomato too :p

The simpler, the better. But of course, sedap :)

Cruise or No Cruise

What was suppose to be a cruise around Putrajaya lake, became a tour around Putrajaya city :p

--- On the final day before the delegates left, an arrangement to go on a cruise around Putrajaya was done by the Secretariat of the meeting. My colleague and I decided to take her car instead of going on the bus for no reason actually. Sajer jer.

So the bus went off first, we left Bangsar about 15 mins later by car - in her 335i, thinking we would be able to catch up with them in no time. But luck wasn't on our side even at the start of the journey and we couldn't find the new highway. The highway was suppose to take us to Putrajaya fast (I can't remember the name of the highway though) but we lost our way and we took the Sungai Besi highway instead.

And to add to that, a colleague of mine (who was already in Putrajaya) gave us wrong info, saying that we were to meet at the mosque in Precint 4, which in actually fact was Precint 1. It was actually the lake right smack in the center of Putrajaya; at the mosque and PM's office - a VERY important detail he forgot to tell us.

So we went round Putrajaya trying to find a mosque at Precint 4. The GPS didn't help much, since we didn't have any details whatsoever, except for Precint 4. No street name, no landmark, no POI (Points of Interest).

And so we spent 1/2 hour going around Putrajaya by land instead of by water like the others. What a day. We managed to find the lake at about 20 minutes before the cruise was over.

Cruise or no cruise, we had fun going on our very own treasure hunt :p

Good Food is Hard To Resist

Last Tuesday & Wednesday, I was out of the office to attend an inaugural meeting with the delegates from Asia & West Pacific to discuss a few issues on ESI Restructuring. The venue was the The Gardens Hotel, KL. A few of us (including myself) was given the duty as a rapporteur to put on paper the issues raised during the discussions of the country papers presented by the delegates.

So as always, one of the good things about these events/meetings, I get to indulge myself in good hotel food and 5-star accomodation on the company's tab.

It was my first time dining at The Spread. Food is quite good if you ask me. The spread was quite extensive which includes oysters too. Yum. I didn't wanna stuff myself too much as there was gonna be an afternoon session (can't afford to fall asleep) but yeah, 3 rounds of food + a bowl of ice-cream was what I had :)

After lunch, I went up to the room to freshen myself, and hopped onto the scale. I started to touch 50 kilos about 2 months ago, and I still am in the 50s. 51.5 to be specific as of last Tuesday. I'm quite happy with my weight, although some clothes I have are a bit tight now :p

Since the puasa month is over, I'm gonna start being a little healthier by hitting the gym!

I was going to write about my purchase at Harvey Norman, but that can wait.

I just applied 2 days leave for next Thursday and Friday for the upcoming ceremony which is just around the corner! Yikes! Time flies!

Anyway, since the office is quiet (it's pretty much empty except for my big boss who is Chinese and another Indian colleague who are around), I thought of taking some time off to drop by at Choffles, a cake shop in Damansara Perdana. The cakes on their website look kinda pretty, so Mr. H, who just got back from Johor yesterday, wants to go check it out. So to Choffles we go.

Some of the other things I need to do before the ceremony:

1. To make an appointment with my dentist on the 1st
2. Mani/pedi on the 2nd - any recommendations for a good and cheap place?
3. To confirm/remind time with the photographer, and those doing my makeup, hantaran, and mini pelamin
4. The caterer will be taken care by my mom

I hope I didn't miss anything.

Raya Purchase!

I've been looking for the perfect one for quite sometime. I did find a few I liked at Harvey Norman, Mid Valley earlier this year, but at that time, I wasn't prepared to splurge on one yet. I did go in a few stores to check out, but nothing really caught my attention. Plus, I was more focused on getting other stuff in my list.

And yesterday, I knew I saw what I wanted, and I got it right away :)

The office is pretty empty today. There are only 14 of us in my department, and half of them are already on leave. And at this moment I am in my L.A.Z.Y mode.
It's only 9:37 a.m. but it feels as though I've been sitting at my desk for a whole day.
Good thing it's Friday, and I have a fairly long lunch break :)

Right now all I can think about is the great spread of food this raya - rendang, lontong, laksa johor, kuah kacang, and everything else (can't be listing it all, it's gonna make me hungry!)

Anyway, I'd like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very happy Eid Mubarak.

Oh Dear!

I went to my tailor yesterday for fitting. I made 3 baju kurungs this year. 2 baju kurung modern and 1 baju kurung pesak.

And guess what?
I can't fit in 2 of them! Yikes! I gained 5 kilos for your info over the past 3 months. I thought I was gonna shed a few during this puasa month, but to no avail :(

And to add on that, one of my tops is a pink chiffon, and as I was struggling to get myself into it (in denial that I could actually fit into it,which I did in the end after alot of struggling), I ended up with lipstick and powder marks on the baju!
And to take it off was another problem, even harder actually!
Now I have to get it to the dry cleaners before I get to wear it for raya!!

Sigh.

My tailor will make some alterations and hopefully I can fit into them. I'll be picking up the pieces tomorrow.

Designer Dilemma

One of the things that would be on your to-do list, 6 months before your wedding is to find that perfect dress.

I know that I've still got ample time... but I have to start somewhere right?

I've started buying the magazine 'Pengantin', surf some blogs and websites, to get some ideas of what I like, what I want and of course, what is within my budget.

I haven't met any designers in person, except for Salleh, from Citra SACC. I've always liked the dresses from Butik Citra, but whether I want to part with my money to get the dresses here is something I have to think about.

I probably need 3 dresses for the ceremony I think, make that 4, including the 'majlis bertandang' but I'm not gonna think about that just yet.

Here are some of the designers that I came across so far. As you can see, I don't have an extensive list :p I haven't really done my homework on this yet and I haven't asked around.

Another 5 and a half hours to go, but I'm already thinking about f.o.o.d.

For those who knows me well, they would know that I have this thing for colored rice. Name it - nasi ayam, nasi tomato, nasi kahwin, nasi beringin, nasi beriyani.... I loike!

But my all time favorite would be nasi tomato. And I search high and low for the best nasi tomato during the fasting month (well, maybe I am exaggerating a bit here) And when Ramadhan came, I got an sms from a friend:-

"Its nasi tomato season again! Selamat Berpuasa!"

And I had a conversation with a friend at work:

Friend: So, how's puasa? Makan nasi tomato laa kan?
Me: Well, puasa's ok. Nasi tomato, not yet.
Friend: What? You haven't gone to the pasar ramadhan to cari your nasi tomato yet?
Me: Errrr.. not yet.

Guess I talk about nasi tomato too much :p

Work is Still Part of My Agenda

I am spending the first day of Ramadhan at home. The weather is cool and wet, just perfect to cool down the hot climate of ours. A perfect way of starting this holy month. Amin.

Last Saturday, the last weekend before the fasting month, I made a trip to the mall with the focus on just getting work clothes. I am still working and I need clothes, so I am not spending unecessary (I'm trying to make myself feel less guilty of shopping) :p

I managed to get myself a few items at G2000. In specific, 5 shirts and 2 pants. I'm happy with the amount I had to pay thanks to the sale. If they were not on sale, the total bill would have come up to RM1822. Money well spent! I haven't been doing any impusive buyings even though its the Mega Sale season (although it can be veryyy tempting), but so far, I'm doing just fine.

I only planned to get some shirts and pants, so that was done. After that, I got hungry and decided to treat my mom at Charms, and we got on the wrong floor, and I saw Cuffz, and you guessed right, I walked in. I've been to the store in BSC but that was my first time in One Utama. And the cufflinks were on SALE. All of them had a 30% discount from the normal price.

And I decided to grab these two.

For moi.

And one for Mr. H. Or should I just keep it for myself? hehe

I've heard quite a bit about Annick Goutal's fragrances; a top-end French perfume.

Price ranges from around RM350 (50ml EDT I think) to RM1000. A grand is how much you have to spend to own your very own beautiful butterfly bottle that is lacquered with natural pearls with a gold-painted butterfly on top. I heared that you can refill the bottle though. So that's a plus point.

But would I pay that much for a perfume? Definitely no. I don't know about you though :)

Anyway, I haven't really made it a point to pay their store a visit. They have quite a range of perfumes. 20 over if I'm not mistaken. As far as I know, the only one is in Le Meridien, KL, but this brand is also available in these anchor stores - Parkson, Pavillion and Isetan KLCC.

Tempted to try?
I do wonder how these expensive perfumes smell like.

I Can Hear It Growl

I am fasting today.

I didn't have anything for sahur except some leftover chicken crackers from yesterday and a bottle of mineral water.

I am so hungryy! There was a farewell breakfast for a Senior VP that will be retiring the end of this month and a steamboat for lunch for the ones involved in the preparation of an assessment held last week (that includes me). Quite hard to resist the temptation, but proud to say, I am still holding on!

Now I'm thinking of what to have for buka, nasi with lauk or fast food. Burger King maybe? I'm a sucker for the Black Pepper burger and the Whopper. At this point of time, everything seems delicious.

Ok, ok enough about food. Let me get back to work. The best distraction over food!

Dinner East Coast Style

Last night my granduncle hosted a dinner party at his home in Damansara Heights to welcome some relatives of ours who came for a visit from South Africa. I know the first thing that comes to mind when someone mentions South Africa are people with very dark colored skin, curly hair, basically you know what I mean.

But my relatives are Malays; known as Cape Malays and they have features similar to the Arabs. I didn't take any photos of them. The pics are in my cousin's camera. Sorry :)

Anyway, we had fun getting to know each other (there are my dad's second cousins) and of course, food was always part of the agenda. My grand aunty made her super-duperlicious nasi dagang Terengganu as the main course. I'm not a fan of nasi dagang at all, whether it's from Kelantan or Terengganu, but hers is excellent.

Nothing can go wrong with good food, don't you think? :)

Oh Why BB Why?

Something's wrong with my BB.

I noticed it last Sunday when a few calls that came in and the ones I made were interrupted by this annoying sound (the same sound you get when you're on the line and there's another phone nearby), but this time it is a constant sound with a 5 second pause in between. It went on for 5 minutes and the phone just went dead.

I thought it was my battery at first, but it happened again yesterday and today. All calls can't be more than 5 minutes, then my BB will just turn off. i tried reinserting my battery and SIM, but the same problem persist.

Since Sunday, I told Mr. H to call me on my fixed line at home and at the office, so I guess this 012-2010xxx I'm carrying can't be something I can rely on for now; until I figure out what's wrong with my BB. Good thing I have my 019 active - my good ol' office cellphone.

The movie I find really cute is 'Up' and it will finally reach our shores this weekend. Yeay!

Although I try to refrain myself from being in any enclosed area with alot of people as much as I can i.e clubs, cinemas, I'm still planning to catch this; wearing a mask of course. I'm a little paranoid with the swine flu pandemic. Every cough and sneeze gets my attention now (including my own).

I bought a bunch of masks from Guardian MV; I heard it's out of stock now last weekend. I'm not sure when they plan to get them restocked. Anyway, just a precaution and to be on the safe side. Better safe than sorry right?

I'm at the office now and I can't wait to leave work. 3/4 of the office are out for audits, courses and some are on leave.

History has just been created! The first Asian born to win the PGA Tour!

I'm no fan of golf but I do understand the game. Nothing more than that. Mr. H loves golf, and so he called me this morning to inform me that Y.E Yang won! It was a big surprise as it was a 3 shot margin of victory over Tiger Woods.

What Can Go Wrong With More LVoe

I don't keep up with the trend when it comes to designer bags, but when I found out about this, I said to myself "God, this is so pretty!!"

The newest addition to the Damier family, I must say that this is definitely a good catch. Let's not talk about price here, since the Sistina GM is retailing at a hefty $2020 dollars!
I love its pleats, and the buckel gives it an elegant touch.

Beautiful bag, that's all I can say.

I'm not an LV collector, or any branded bag for that matter, but this little baby is making me think twice.

Sistina in my wishlist?

Christmas in July

This entry is long overdue. Anyway, my friends and I made a trip sometime last month to Kampung Kuantan, Kuala Selangor to watch fireflies!

And it was amazing! We couldn't catch them on camera though. We weren't allowed to take any flash photography and my Lumix digital compact camera didn't do any justice to the real thing.

I was in awe to be able to see these creatures light up to brighten the dark night. The most amazing thing for me was that the fireflies actually lit up at the same time. It was as though it was choreographed or something. And for those who have heard that they look like Christmas tree lights, I would definitely second that! Just beautiful!!

I've got photos of the pit stop we made before the 30 minute boat trip to watch the fireflies. We had a big, glorious meal at a nearby seafood restaurant to fill our hungry tummies, that is.

For whatever reasons you might have, I still think the approach could have been different.

There are better ways to get through to a person, and your way sure does piss me off!!

It's Been A While

It's another Monday again, and official working hours are almost over.

The haze is pretty bad these days, I'm surrounded by friends with the cough & cold.. the thought of the swine flu does scare me sometimes! As a precaution I bought some head masks, just the cheap ones, I got 10 pcs for 11 bucks at Guardian Pharmacy. I haven't gotten the urge to wear it yet, but the fact that I have them handy somewhat makes me feel better :p

I went to watch the Tun Mamat theatre at Dewan DBKL. Yes, a bangsawan theatre. So unlike me, but I decided to join the clan since my grandma was given VIP seats that night :p

It was the first time I got to know about Ashraf (sorry, I'm not really into the local movie scene). He's cute, and friendly too. He sat with us over supper (we were served supper after the show).

Anyway, after that my cousin and I decided to hang out at Carlo's in Pavillion. The place is quite nice, but the crowd is not really to my liking. Perhaps because we encountered some weird people there. Other that that, I like the music! They played house!!

I watched two chick flicks these past 2 weeks..

One of the funniest movies this year! I likeeee! There were so many scenes that tickled my funny bone. Simply entertaining! I don't mind watching this movie again :) And Ryan Reynolds, you sure do have a hot bod! ~Drool~

And the other one I just watched last weekend was this.

It was rather dragging at first. But this movie had its moments. There were a few funny scenes as well. My favorite scenes were when Connor Mead talked Sandra into getting back with Paulie & Connor's toast on Paulie's big day. I couldn't help but shed a few tears. So sweetttttt...
Ok enough about the movie, I don't wanna spoil the fun, so go watch it!

So, when's the next chick flick? I'm game for one anytime.

Torn between Italy and France

I can be very indecisive when making decisions.

And when it comes to choosing between these 2 options, I'm stuck again.

Option 1: Acca Kappa
This brand name that hails from Italy has been around for decades and I've been wanting to try their products since I got to know about it.

I haven't sampled the Hibiscus range yet, but I'm so tempted to! I've got a kenduri in Seremban this weekend, but maybe I'll make time to swing by KLCC or Pavillion to check their on it. How does hibiscus smell like? I'm so curious!

I'm imagining it to be sweet and fresh... but I could be wrong.. I so wanna try? The Wisteria range is another one that I wanna try...

Option 2: L'occitane
This is a more familiar brand since we have a number of stores here in Klang Valley. I've tried a few of their products before and I have no complaints. I like it.

I went in their store again yesterday in MV, and tried the Peach Blossom range and also Lavender. I like it!!

A plus point for Lavender is that is has quite a number of products; ranging from body lotions to scented candles :) Very tempting.

And the Peach Blossom is sweet and fresh. Pretty in peach color too.

It's been a while since I made time for this humble blog of mine. And I thought I'd spend some time to write something today.

I've been busy surveying, getting quotations, meeting up with people and scouting for items for a small ceremony that will be held at my little shack in PJ. I'm getting engaged! The date has been set, and it's gonna be in the month of Syawal.

And of of the things that I have been doing homework on, is on my engagement ring. Girls and sparkles, what can I say? ;)

I'm planning to get my ring from the US. I've checked a few big diamond retailers online like Zales, Kay Jewelers & Heizberg, and I'm blinded! I'm looking for certified ones, IMHO even though you have to pay a little extra but at least, you get to know what exactly you are paying for.

I went to Tiffany in KLCC last weekend to double check my ring size. Yup, it's 4.5. And since I was already there, I decided to take a look at what they've got to offer and the sales consultant help me out a bit based on my preferences, and she is amazing. Her name is Anna and she will pick out the ring that suits you best. And so much so, I must agree :)

And now I have something on my wishlist... I have a rough idea of what I want, and Anna got me stuck on this particular one. hehe

I have some time to decide on which one to choose, but this particular one at Tiffany is definitely one of my options :)

I have ulcers in my mouth!!

And this time one of them is on my tongue!

The pain is killing me. I can't talk properly and I can't enjoy my food much :(

I used to apply Bonjela those days (I used to wear braces in school and mouth ulcers was a normal thing) but that was more than 10 years ago :P

Any new stuff in the market that I don't know of?

Putting butter over your ulcer is one of the traditional ways my mom would recommend, and also gargling water with a bit of salt in it.

I've even tried putting salt directly over my ulcers one time, and I couldn't help but cry because the pain was unbearable. Don't think I wanna do that again. EVER.

Last Sunday before heading out from Midvalley, I made a pit stop at Krispy Kreme to get something for tea. So, I bought a dozen donuts - half of the original glazed (my favorite!)and another half of the others. I can't remember what I picked, but 2 of them were the ones with Hershey whatnots.

And.... I purchased a dvd of MJ's concert in Bucharest. My first ORIGINAL dvd purchase after god knows how long. I am a loyal supporter of pirated dvds :p

I haven't gotten the time to watch it yet. I thought of doing it tonite, but I just remembered today is Tuesday and "Desperate Housewives" will be on tonight.

Tomorrow night then.

I've been very busy this week in the office and out of the office, (I've been working from home for the last couple of nights), and I'm glad that the week is almost over. Although next week will be another busy week, I'm not gonna let it spoil my weekend. I've got a few things lined up and I shall put work aside for just these two days :)

Tick Tock Tick Tock

I have been waiting since 9:30a.m. to present some materials to my VP. However, due to an unplanned situation, she has postponed this meeting and I'm left waiting for her to call me once she is back in the office. I don't mind waiting since I have more time to tidy up my presentation but then I am having a horrible period pain right now and the last thing I want to do is work!

Out of the 12 months in a year, I take about 6-7 MCs on the first day of my period. My period pain can sometimes be unbearable. Right now I want to lie down with a hot water bottle on my tummy. I don't want to be at the office.

Urghh.

I'm not taking painkillers this time, but when it gets really bad, I take a capsule of Ponstan 500 and one Panadol Menstrual. This combo was what one of the doctors at my panel clinic recommended when I went to get an MC a few months ago.

Anyway, I'm hoping this will pain will subside soon.

Weekend With The Family

My initial plan was to take last Friday off, but since my colleagues decided to have my ex-VPs farewell tea that day (she was only available that day), I cancelled my plan. After work, packed my stuff and head down to PD with my parents. We had a big family gathering from my dad's side of the family. Almost all my dad's siblings were there including my uncle who is working in Dubai.

My grandma (from my mom's side) called me earlier that day, and wanted to treat me for dinner. Since we were heading to PD, she decided to meet us at PD Yacht Club (it was my birthday and this was really an impromtu thing). My parents & I checked in at the apartment and straight to Yacht Club to meet my grandma. My birthday is not a big hype for me especially at this age, so yeah, we had a small celebration. We left KL at 730p.m, so it was a bit of a rush with the traffic and some construction work, but my grandma insisted so we went anyway. I got an evening bag from her. I don't have many, I normally borrow them from my mom, so now I have a gold one to add to myvery small collection :)

We had brunch the next day at the club as well, don't know any good restaurants in PD, so as always the default would always be to the nearest club. That's my favorite fruit drink - honeydew.

It was great to spend the weekend with the family (I don't do this often, ya know). There were approximately 26 of us, ranging from 84 years old - my grandfather to lil cousin Faiz who is 2 1/2 years old. More birthday songs for me and cake cutting from daddy's side of the family this time :)

The Silver Lining After the Dark Cloud Went Away

Monday, 5:45 p.m: I had my first flat tyre. It was my front right tyre. On my way home from work, I did feel that my car was heavy on one side - the right. The car tends to steer to the left. I knew there was something wrong, but I thought I'll just wait and see.

I was on the fed at that time. I looked around at other cars, and no one seemed to give me that 'look'. I was actually looking out for that as a sign that something was really wrong with my car. But no one did. So I guessed there wasn't anything wrong with my tyres and I'll just pay a visit to the workshop near my house before I head home.

Not until a red Proton Wira honked me right before the PJ Hilton exit. The traffic was heavy so we managed to exchange a few hand signals which then I was pretty sure he was telling me that my tyre was going flat.

Stopped at PJ Hilton's exit (nearby the outdoor parking), and rang up my dad. Good thing he was at home and he told me he'll be there as soon as he can. I know I can ask some Tom, Dick or Harry to help me out, but I have this phobia of men on bikes and didn't bother to look for help from those nearby. I knew there were a few people who I think intended to give me a hand after realizing that I had a flat, but I just looked away and stayed in my car. I might be overacting but I've had it with bikers after I was mugged and I don't intend to take any chances.

After 20 minutes my dad came to the rescue. He asked me whether I was covered by AAM, in fact I was. Totally forgot about calling them since my car has always been realiable and I've never used its services. So I rang AAM up and they told me they can only be there in a hour to an hour and a half. My dad decided not to wait and try to change the tyre himself.

And here's the outcome. My car with a spare tyre.

Tuesday, 9:30 a.m: I sent my car to get my tyre changed. I didn't feel good about going to work with a spare tyre so I waited at home till the workshop opened and head there first. I wanted to change the 2 front tyres and the uncle at the workshop advised me to do the same. He told me that I didn't run over anything sharp e.g. nail, glass, etc. but the tyre was swollen and was too worn out. I guess it's due time since I had all my 4 tyres changed quite a while ago (3 years I think) and I only bought second hand ones that time :p

So this time round, I decided on two brand new Barum tyres for my car.

On a different note, I managed to get hold of tickets to watch Transformers! I called GSC to make bookings for shows on Thursday and tried twice but they were fully booked. I gave up and decided to head down to The Gardens (with the mind that they won't be too many around checking out there) but how I was wrong. The line was short but the tickets were mostly gone.

9:00 o'clock which was just perfect for me were all taken up. The Gold Class were all taken up too. The midnite show was still available, but a bit too late for me since Friday is a working day for me. They last bet was the 6:00 o'clock show and they were still available but not many.

So 6:00 o'clock it is :)

I can't wait to watch my favorite Autobots!

What I did on Father's Day

So it's Daddy's Day today. Gave my dad a big kiss this morning and my mom decided to check out Binwani's in the Curve to get a few pieces of baju melayu material for daddy dearest. Now is the preview sale for the members and it's gonna go on till the 3rd of July.

Since we were already there, mommy and yours truly decided to get a few pieces for ourselves too.

And a few pieces turn out to this!

I got a few suits of French lace, Italian silk and Italian cotton. This is my first time buying Italian cotton. I'm thinking about making them into baju kurung in attempt to cope with the super hot weather these days!

So looks like I have enough for work, raya and other special occassions :)

I owe this entry to a good friend of mine, a friend of 15 years. As I don't mention names in my blog, so let's just call her Ms. Lee.

Anyway, we had a conversation sometime last week about a friend of ours, who used to be pretty close to us, especially to Ms. Lee. However, now she seemed to be avoiding us, well, that's how we feel at least.

It doesn't really bother me since we only keep in touch once in a while, but for Ms. Lee, I kinda feel for her, since they have been pretty good friends for the past few years. It all started when Ms. Lee left the country for a year. She came back sometime last year and until today, Ms. Lee has never gotten the chance to meet up with this friend of ours. Ms. Lee has made several attempts to get in touch with her; in fact more than enough times if you ask me, but she didn't pick up her calls nor did she answer her msgs on Facebook etc.

She did answer her call once, and told Ms. Lee that she was busy and would return her call back. But the call never came.

Why do some people turn out this way?

But giving the benefit of doubt, we assumed that she was having some personal problems and that she didn't want to be around people or specifically around her schoolmates. But then again, we just found out that she turned up for several weddings of our ex-schoolmates and we also found out that she's pregnant! And this was from a girl she was never close with at school, or even after.

I dunno. Isn't good news like this would want to share with your best friends?

Ms.Lee, I know you've done your part to keep the friendship alive. But if the other party doesn't intend to do so, don't stress yourself too much. You know you still have friends who care for you :)

This guy caught my eye since the movie "He's Just Not That Into You".

I wouldn't categorize him in any of these categories:
1. Tall dark and handsome
2. Drop dead gorgeous
3. A total hunk

But more like the average joe or rather the guy next door that has this cute and decent face. And this guy, he just knows how to work his charms!

I like!

I watched "Drag Me to Hell" last Saturday. Probably my second or third midnite movie this year. I try to avoid watching late night shows, since most of the time the screen normally watches me instead :P
It wasn't really the plan at first, Mr. H and I wanted to watch Angels & Demons. (I know we're behind time), but the tickets were all taken up and we decided to catch this film instead. Quite a good watch, s.c.a.r.y. but with bit of humor here and there. I like it! Definitely entertaining!

I'd give the movie 7.0 out of 10.

Anyway, back to Justin Long, he played 'Clay' in the movie, and he is cute.

I'm a fan of Transformers since I was a little kid. I try and not miss any of the episodes if I'm at home when I was a little kid. I even had some action figures of them. I think I was probably about 7 or 8. Anyway, I can't wait for the 24th of June!
I plan to catch this at the cinema, if I find some friends to go watch with that is. I went to watch the first Transformers movie with a few of my guyfriends from uni. I can't seem to find any of my girlfriends who are into robots.They don't seem to find them interesting :p

Ghosts of Girlfriends Past and Harry Porter are also in my 'must watch' list.

Something Us Females Can Never Get Enough Of

I'm almost done with my Risk Report for the first half of our financial year. Not the final version yet, this is only my first draft. With hopes that my boss is ok with it and with minor changes needed, soon I will not have to see the risk registers again (for this half of the year at least). Going through risk terminologies and jargons to prepare this report can get pretty boring.

Anyway, feeling a little less stressful this morning and before I head down to Bursa this afternoon to attend a talk, I browsed through s.h.o.e.s online.

At Nine West, these caught my eye. And some of it is actually on SALE. The four letter word that it very important in every woman's vocabulary. The thought of new shoes is rather tempting. But big no for me now, I just bought 2 pairs a few weeks ago, and I haven't even worn them yet.
So I'm just gonna go virtual window shopping for now...

Me No Likey The Weather

It is so hot in Malaysia right now, that I'm so missing the weather in Melbourne. The land where a U-turn is a "u-ey", breakfast is a "brekky' and McDonald's is "Mackers". I wonder why they don't call McD's "McKey's"?

I try and stay indoors with full air-conditioning these days. Oh Mother Earth, what has happened to you? Btw, I am using the Panasonic Envio at home which is earth friendly :)

Anyway, Melbourne is one of my favorite cities in the Land Down Under. I absolutely love the weather. Sydney is too busy for me and.... hot! eventhough the last time I was there it was the end of summer.

We rented a Camry especially for our trip to the 12 Apostles. You don't need a car otherwise, the tram is convenient if we plan to go a lil out from the city. Everything else was in walking distance from where we stayed. Our apartment was in Lil Lonsdale, right in the CBD (Central Business District). Shopping, night life, and everything else is there. But of course, besides the city, you need to discover other places too, and Chapel St. and Vic Market is not something to be missed :)

When I was there, the Comedy Fest was on. I took the oportunity to check out one of the night comedy shows to see some talents performed. The talents were from all over the world. Bo Burnham from the US of A really impressed me!

I managed to check out the Anzac Day Parade at Federation Sq. Anzac Day is celebrated in Australia & New Zealand.

In St Kilda

And something I never miss in any of my Melbourne trips, is fish & chips! The best in Melbourne would be in St. Kilda. Just a tram ride away from CBD. It would take you about 30 minutes to get there.

I can't remember the restaurant's name though :p but it's just beside San Churro. Everything is so fresh! Btw, San Churro has the best hot chocolate here. They even have chocolate tapas! There are a few branches of San Churro around; even on Swanston, so don't miss the fish and chips and San Churro's if you're planning to head down to Melbourne!

The Day I Dread Is Already Here

Monday. The least favorite day of the week for me, and probably for most of us who has to work.
I left my house at 7:35, a little late than usual. I normally leave about 7:28 to make it just in time for work and to secure myself a parking space (I have no designated lot, you see).

After driving about 5 minutes, I realized I didn't have my office keys with me. Upset at myself for being so gatal to change my handbag (the keys were in my other bag I brought to work last Friday) and turned back. I rushed in the house, grab my keys, and got in the car again. It was already 7:42. I start work at 8, and there I was thinking to myself that I won't be able clock in in time. What a bad start of the worst day of the week.

To my surprise, with my usual driving speed I made it in time. In fact, I clocked in at 7.55 a.m.

Thank god for the school holidays.

I guess today is not gonna be a bad day after all.

Good Manners Should Be Taught In School

I have an appointment with my derm after work today.

I had some questions for my doctor on the treatment I plan to do and gave a quick call to his clinic just now. And as always, I would have to go through the receptionist. The thing is, I don't like her.

I told her I wanted to talk to him but she insisted to know what I wanted to ask about and asked me 1 question after another. And the way she talks is so irratating!

A blabbermouth. Full stop.

I like the one who worked there before, a Filipino. Very pleasant and polite. I have nothing against the person's race, but this Indian lady has spoilt my day before, and she just did it again!

I'm still going there because I am satisfied with my doctor's services. He is this nice, well-mannered Indian man in his mid-40s. Very cultured, nothing like his receptionist. I am so waiting for the day she quits!

Work Those Abs, Baby!

I'm gonna start working on my neglected abs and loose all the extra fat I have at my mid-section!
I started doing crutches last night. I did 2 sets of 10 repetitions. I'm gonna work it up to 3 sets of 20 before the end of the month, or more. It depends on how dicipline I am, and I hope I won't loose focus.

I had the similar vital statistics as Cameron Diaz before (I just got to know as I was google-ing celebrities vital stats a while ago) and I'm gonna try and get it back again!

I don't plan to loose any weight, so not too much cross training for me. Just some exercise to keep fit. Maybe 20 minutes on the threadmill/cross trainer would do, once a week. I don't want to burn too many calories. I'm now 48 kgs, and still underweight for my height. This is the heaviest I've ever been all my life and I'm happy! Although I've gotta chuck a few pairs of jeans due to this :p

I'm gonna start hitting the gym next week. Hopefully I'll have the same determination when the day comes!

I Shall Continue From Where I Left Off

I have this habit of buying fictions but not finishing it till the end. I will read a few chapters (you know the excitement of getting a new book), but if it gets a bit too boring, it's rightful place would be right there on my bookshelf. That was what happened to this book I had by Koomson's. I read some good reviews about it and decided to purchase it, but I guess the book didn't really catch my attention.

I bought another book, 'Sisters' by Danielle Steel, and that one I finished in a day and a half.
It was a good book. I would recommend this book to you ladies :)

And the most recent one, I got from Tullamarine Airport, Melbourne. I bought it for 20 Aussie Dollars. 2 books in 1 - in paperback. Both by Lauren Weisberger. Good deal right? It was suppose to accompany me on my 8 hour flight back home.

And it did.. although I only read 3 chapters of 'The Devil Wears Prada' on the plane.
I spent more time sleeping :p We took the late night flight, so it was my normal sleeping hours anyway.

I got the book off the shelf yesterday (after it has been on my bookshelf for almost a month) and plan to do some light reading tonight. I enjoyed the movie and I think I'll enjoy this. About the other novel 'Everyone Worth Knowing' - I'll keep you updated. One novel at a time.

It's Raining.... coconuts??

Notice the bump on my car?

I only noticed this when I was about to get in the car to leave from work yesterday.

And there it was. It was much bigger than a man's fist, more like two.

It can't possibly be made by a bike or a car who took off the moment he/she hit me, because the location of the bump was a little too high, very near to the boot.
Maybe someone was mad at me or for some reason , and wanted to get even with me by doing this? Maybe he/she did it with a steering lock or a golf club?

I was pretty pissed but I knew it couldn't be it.

Then I remembered that on my way to Baskin Robbins the other day, I did hear a loud sound like a knock as I was driving, and I thought I hit something; like a big brick or pipe. I pulled over at a gas station (about 50 meters from where it happened), but my car was just fine. I checked all my four tyres, as I thought one of it bursted or something.(I don't know the sound of a bursting tyre, but it just crossed my mind that it could be that). The sound was pretty loud, but I guess I was too focused on finding something wrong at the bottom of the car and I didn't look around to check the other parts of the car. Plus, Baskin Robbins was already calling me :P

So on the way back home yesterday, I followed the same way I took and my guess was right.
There was a medium-size coconut tree right by the road where I heared the loud knock during the incident.

If only I was 5 seconds early or 5 seconds late, the coconut would have missed my car.

Anyways, I guess these things happen and I'm not gonna fret about it.

But if it were to happen to my DB9 (I don't have one, it's just my dream car), I would.

2 Quarts of Heaven

It was the 31st, and I celebrated it with yummylicious ice-cream!

As I was lazing in bed after a day out, I played around with my BB to plan my month or more like week.
M.O.N.D.A.Y was just a few hours away and I was really excited - NOT.

Anyways, when I realized it was the 31st yesterday (only at about 6:30 p.m.), I knew I had to go get a tub of Baskin Robbins ice-cream. The perfect solution to the hot, hot, hot weather!

So there I was at Baskin Robbins Damansara Uptown. It was quite a long line when I got there. Not suprising. I took my number - 414, and waited for them to call out my number to pick out the flavors I wanted.

Cookies & Cream was gone. I was no. 414, what do you expect :P So I opted for Chocolate Chip and another tub of Butter Pecan. I took 2 quarts, I was tempted to buy two half gallons at first, but I knew I had to control my temptation!

My answer to a hot, humid Sunday - good, mouth-watering ice-cream!

When I get home from work for the next few days, this is where I'm gonna go look first :)

I am having this awful headache. I've been having it on and off for the last few days. Is it migraine? I dunno. But it feels as though the two sides of my head are being pressed together really hard, and my brains are gonna pop out any moment. I'm trying to avoid taking painkillers as much as possible, as I feel bloated and taking them would make me feel worst.

They say that a visit to the chiropractor would help. It seems that headaches respond well to chiropractic massage and manipulation. Is it true? Sounds good to me, if it works. Not that I know how much it costs to pay a visit to one. Anyone has gotten the magical touch of a chiropractor? Does it really work wonders as they claim? I'm really curious..

The other option I have is to head out to Cres, The Gardens for a massage. I've tried their massage once, and they're quite good. Anyways, I still haven't utilize the packages I signed up for. Maybe that would be my solution for now, hope they will be able to find a slot for me sometime this week!

I want this headache to go awayyyyyyy.....

Everyone I know has a Facebook account, and it seems nowdays not only the generations Y and Z have an account, even the generation before that seems to be quite active in Fb too. I just found out my next door neighbour has an account, and his wife too. Way to go Uncle G. Wonder when my parents are gonna create an account of their own. Most likely my dad would be having one soon, not too sure about my mom, she's still learning how to shoot emails :)

And thanks to Facebook, I managed to find some of my long lost friends from my Elementary School days!

I studied in Thomas Jefferson Elementary in Morristown, NJ. for 2 years. I did my third and fourth grade there. It was a great school, and it was one of the best childhood days of my life.

Anyway, back to my story, so yeah, I managed to track down Leigh Ann; one of my good friends there, and soon later, through mutual friends, I managed to get in touch with a few others too. Some of them went to different middle schools and then different high schools, so even they have lost touch. So I'm quite happy to say I managed to get in touch with 5 of them. I'm still trying to find my then best friend, Rei, a japanese, who's dad was also sent to New Jersey for an assignment with the same Oil & Gas company my dad used to work for.

Amongst the 5 of them, 2 of them are married, 1 is divorced with 2 kids and 2 are still enjoying their single life. Hopefully, one day I'll make it a point to see them, for all times sake.

This was the township I lived in the US, and boy, I miss this place. I took these photos last year, Mr H took me here with the help of the GPS of course. I remember my address and phone number by heart. Good memories are hard to forget :)

I think it's time for me to get a new pair of sunnies.

I do love my Oscar de la Renta very much, but I think it needs a new friend.

I've been wearing a non-branded pair for quite some time now. I can be a little forgetful at times, and there has been cases in the past, where I accidently left my shades in the dressing room and public restrooms. By the time I realize I didn't have them with me and went back to check, they're already gone. These events had happened before and I don't what to loose my Oscar de la Renta!

So with this pair, I never have to worry about loosing them or whatever. But the weird thing is, I've misplaced it a couple of times, but I always find it again. Guess no one is really interested in cheapo sunglasses :p The other thing I like about them, you can bring it to the beach and just stuff them in your bag with your other stuff, and not have to worry about getting the lens scratched. If the scratches get too disturbing, you just get a new one :)

When I was in Australia, I did check out Sunglass Hut. After trying out a number of pairs, I think I have an eye for Tom Ford. I love his designs. Plus they rest well on my nose and ears. On top of that, I think they look good on me too. In my point of view that is, which counts alot. Especially since it comes with a big price tag.

Anyway, here are some of my picks. I haven't decided which one yet. I might just add a few other options to this list later on, but for now here are my favorite few.

Louis Vuitton Gina

I like the way the ear pieces are designed making it look as though its worn upside down it you were to look from the sides. Rihanna is wearing the one in red, I like the one in honey better. Tom Ford has a similar design, Scarlet. I like that one too.

Balenciaga

I kinda like this design. Eva Longoria looks gorgeous wearing this. I like how the lense color gradually becomes lighter towards the bottom. Sexy. The frames might look a little big on me, but I haven't tried this one yet to get a feel of the real thing.

And of course, my favorite, Tom Ford's Whitney!

And one of my favorite actresses, Kate Hudson, has a pair too!
