Go Away

I am having this awful headache. I've been having it on and off for the last few days. Is it migraine? I dunno. But it feels as though the two sides of my head are being pressed together really hard, and my brains are gonna pop out any moment. I'm trying to avoid taking painkillers as much as possible, as I feel bloated and taking them would make me feel worst.

They say that a visit to the chiropractor would help. It seems that headaches respond well to chiropractic massage and manipulation. Is it true? Sounds good to me, if it works. Not that I know how much it costs to pay a visit to one. Anyone has gotten the magical touch of a chiropractor? Does it really work wonders as they claim? I'm really curious..

The other option I have is to head out to Cres, The Gardens for a massage. I've tried their massage once, and they're quite good. Anyways, I still haven't utilize the packages I signed up for. Maybe that would be my solution for now, hope they will be able to find a slot for me sometime this week!

I want this headache to go awayyyyyyy.....

Thank you Mark Zuckerberg!

Everyone I know has a Facebook account, and it seems nowdays not only the generations Y and Z have an account, even the generation before that seems to be quite active in Fb too. I just found out my next door neighbour has an account, and his wife too. Way to go Uncle G. Wonder when my parents are gonna create an account of their own. Most likely my dad would be having one soon, not too sure about my mom, she's still learning how to shoot emails :)

And thanks to Facebook, I managed to find some of my long lost friends from my Elementary School days!

I studied in Thomas Jefferson Elementary in Morristown, NJ. for 2 years. I did my third and fourth grade there. It was a great school, and it was one of the best childhood days of my life.

Anyway, back to my story, so yeah, I managed to track down Leigh Ann; one of my good friends there, and soon later, through mutual friends, I managed to get in touch with a few others too. Some of them went to different middle schools and then different high schools, so even they have lost touch. So I'm quite happy to say I managed to get in touch with 5 of them. I'm still trying to find my then best friend, Rei, a japanese, who's dad was also sent to New Jersey for an assignment with the same Oil & Gas company my dad used to work for.

Amongst the 5 of them, 2 of them are married, 1 is divorced with 2 kids and 2 are still enjoying their single life. Hopefully, one day I'll make it a point to see them, for all times sake.

This was the township I lived in the US, and boy, I miss this place. I took these photos last year, Mr H took me here with the help of the GPS of course. I remember my address and phone number by heart. Good memories are hard to forget :)

My old house! I hope the current tenant didn't realize I was busy snapping photos.

Oops, this is Mr. H's place. Nothing to do with NJ :p

Eye Goodies

I think it's time for me to get a new pair of sunnies.

I do love my Oscar de la Renta very much, but I think it needs a new friend.

I've been wearing a non-branded pair for quite some time now. I can be a little forgetful at times, and there has been cases in the past, where I accidently left my shades in the dressing room and public restrooms. By the time I realize I didn't have them with me and went back to check, they're already gone. These events had happened before and I don't what to loose my Oscar de la Renta!

So with this pair, I never have to worry about loosing them or whatever. But the weird thing is, I've misplaced it a couple of times, but I always find it again. Guess no one is really interested in cheapo sunglasses :p The other thing I like about them, you can bring it to the beach and just stuff them in your bag with your other stuff, and not have to worry about getting the lens scratched. If the scratches get too disturbing, you just get a new one :)

When I was in Australia, I did check out Sunglass Hut. After trying out a number of pairs, I think I have an eye for Tom Ford. I love his designs. Plus they rest well on my nose and ears. On top of that, I think they look good on me too. In my point of view that is, which counts alot. Especially since it comes with a big price tag.

Anyway, here are some of my picks. I haven't decided which one yet. I might just add a few other options to this list later on, but for now here are my favorite few.

Louis Vuitton Gina

I like the way the ear pieces are designed making it look as though its worn upside down it you were to look from the sides. Rihanna is wearing the one in red, I like the one in honey better. Tom Ford has a similar design, Scarlet. I like that one too.

Balenciaga

I kinda like this design. Eva Longoria looks gorgeous wearing this. I like how the lense color gradually becomes lighter towards the bottom. Sexy. The frames might look a little big on me, but I haven't tried this one yet to get a feel of the real thing.

And of course, my favorite, Tom Ford's Whitney!

And one of my favorite actresses, Kate Hudson, has a pair too!

Slumber Land

I went to Metrojaya's Preview Sale for MJ card members. Mind you that I'm not one, I was a member before, but I was too lazy to renew my card after the first year and never did until today. A colleague of mine, a MJ card member, got to know about the sale (thanks to yours truly.. ehem) decided to go and take a look at what's in store, and so we did. We had only an hour - from 1 to 2 p.m. and sacrificed our lunch break to s.h.o.p.

As we only had that short period of time to browse through the anchor store, I decided to just stay put in one department - household. I had a few things in mind, a corner rack/shelf for my bathroom, an artificial plant to go on it, bathroom items and a gift for a colleague of mine who is getting married.

A few other stuff caught my attention, and I didn't get any of the items above. I ended up at the bedding section going through quilt covers, shams, linens, cushion covers, and the likes.

I got myself a Jean Perry Luxury Hotel Collection quilt cover set for 50% off. Only $290 after less. Yeay.

I was tempted to get some aromatheraphy scents and candles to go with my new bedding (I was imagining myself in bed with my new 45o treadcount combed cotton sateen sheets and somehow a new scent seemed pretty tempting) but I knew I had to spend more time, if not I'll end up with something I didn't like.

I'm happy with my new sheets!

Who will be The.....

This week we will witness the much awaited American Idol Finale.

If I were given the chance to vote, it will definitely be Kris!
I don't think he is the best singer ever, but he does acoustic pretty well. And he is CUTE.

I deteste his contender, Adam Lambert.

I can't deny that his vocal range is just unbelievably WHOAA.. but... I just don't like him!
He's a rock singer and I don't dig the way these rockers sing.
That's just it.
I know Adam has a huge number of fans and I just hope the fans of Kris will put in more votes this final straw.
Please, Pretty please!

I like Danny Gokey's voice as well.
His last performance was beautiful. It even made me shed a tear or two. He definitely touched my heart with the song. It's a shame that he didn't make it to the finals, but I guess Paula Abdul's choice of song that same night was just not the song for him.

I am really hoping Kris will win. I never thought he would make it to the finals, since he was always in the bottom 3, but I was wrong. I feel this one-on-one with Adam would definitely be tough for Kris, since Adam's a really strong contestant, but I hope I'm wrong again, and that Kris will make it!

Good luck Kris Allen!

The judges & The top 12..

Kris, I'm in for you!!!!!

I'm gonna get Mr. H to vote for me. If he's in the mood to layan me that is. He doesn't follow the Idols. nyeh.

Adam Lambert :P

My First Dive!

I did my first dive at The Great Barrier Reef!

I have been wanting to try this out for some time, since some of my friends have taken this up and seemed to love it so much. So since I was in Cairns, I knew that I could not come home without doing this. An opportunity not to be missed most definitely!

And I did it!

My sister and I decided to go with Ocean Spirit Cruises after going through a few options (there were so many!) and we're happy with our choice. It wasn't the best day to go but weather was fairly good. They forecasted it to be rather windy that day; 2o knots which is equivalent to 23 MPH, but we opt to go on that day since my sister worked on the other days and the day after I was to fly back to Melbourne.

Beaufort Wind Scale
Windspeed in MPH
Description - Visible Condition

0 Calm smoke rises vertically
1 - 4 Light air direction of wind shown by smoke but not by wind vanes
4 - 7 Light breeze wind felt on face; leaves rustle; ordinary wind vane moved by wind 8 - 12 Gentle breeze leaves and small twigs in constant motion; wind extends light flag
13 - 18 Moderate breeze raises dust and loose paper; small branches are moved
19 - 24 Fresh breeze small trees in leaf begin to sway; crested wavelets form on inland water
25 - 31 Strong breeze large branches in motion; telephone wires whistle; umbrellas used with difficulty
32 - 38 Moderate gale whole trees in motion; inconvenience in walking against wind
39 - 46 Fresh gale breaks twigs off trees; generally impedes progress
47 - 54 Strong gale slight structural damage occurs; chimney pots and slates removed
55 - 63 Whole gale trees uprooted; considerable structural damage occurs
64 - 72 Storm very rarely experienced; accompanied by widespread damage
73+ Hurricane devastation occurs

----- ----- ----- -----
We were given a half hour briefing on the basics of diving. Since it was my introductory dive and also the first for 80% of us on the catamaran, we were all so excited!!

The hand signals were taught (can't be talking with the mouthpiece underwater right?), how to breathe, equalizing techniques - this is done to equal the pressure in your ear and water and a few diving tips.

We made two stops during our trip, one at Oyster Reef and the other at Upolu Reef. As the catamaran is a quite big, to get to the reef, we had to swim about 150 meters. It was a different experience for me as the few snorkeling trips I went to in Redang & Phuket, I was dropped right at the waters with the fishes by a speed boat. Even for someone who's been swimming since I was 3 years old, it wasn't so easy with the strong current and choppy waters there.

One other thing, life jackets were not compulsory to be worn (you can request for one of the boat) but I opt for a noodle instead, it's a noodle shaped float so that I can hang on to something when I get tired swimming :p During that trip, I think only a Japanese guy used a life jacket, I assumed that he couldn't swim. The life guard on the speed boat told him he needed to swim faster if not he will not be able to make it to the reef! I think he managed to reach the reef after strugling quite a bit.

At Upolu Reef, our second stop is where we were going to dive. We were grouped into teams. My sister and I, and an American girl were going for our first dive together with the PADI instructors. We are not certified divers, and we were guided by the PADI certified divers.

The dive was for half and hour, and it was an experience I will never forget. It was scary at first being 8 meters under water, but I got used to it after a good 10 minutes. I took time to adjust to breathing through the mouth and being deep down under... but as long as you're always equalizing when you need to (due to the difference in pressure as you go deeper) - you'll enjoy it!

For those who love the water, I recommend you to try this!
It's nothing like snorkeling, really. I've gone snorkelling many times and it's a wayyy different feeling.

On the way back to Cairns Jetty, we sunbathed on the upper deck. I know I'm already tanned and don't need no sunbathing, but the wind was so breezy and fresh you wouldn't want to miss it by staying inside. I managed to catch a short nap too :)

A Hospital Which Feels More Like Home

Yesterday, I paid a visit to my dear uncle who undergone a leg operation sometime last week. His been doing his physio everyday since the 2nd day of his operation and he was telling all of us how much it hurt to try and walk again. Glad the operation went well and insyallah, and due time, he'll be walking again.

He is now admitted at Seremban Specialist and boy was I impressed with the room. The higher tier rooms are all the names of precious stones, e.g. zamrud, nilam etc. It is more like an apartment if you ask me!

As you enter the room, there is a lounge with a flat screen TV (a small one, probably 21' I think), a bathroom, a kitchenette, and bedroom no. 2 (pretty small, but if fits a single bed which is more than enough, and not a simple plain single bed, mind you). The patient's room is practically another room on its own, as there is another huge door that separates the room from the lounge, and that room has a 3 seater sofa, a poof on one side and another 2 piece furniture on the other. It has a 32' flat screen TV and there's a dressing table too! Oh yes, an its own bathroom of course.

It's not like a typical hospital room with plain white walls, but nicely decorated with pastel wallpapers. Although it's not really to my liking as I'm a minimalist when it comes to interior decorations, I can't deny that the room or more like suite is homey and you really don't feel like you're in a hospital, (except for the hospital bed of course!) I've not been to many hospitals, so maybe it's pretty normal for rooms a tier higher to have this sort of arrangement, but I was impressed!

Great Ocean Road, Victoria

One of the things we didn't wanna miss during our trip was the drive on Great Ocean Road. We made a few stops but one of the famous ones is non other that the Twelve Apostles in Port Campbell.

Wikipedia:
The Twelve Apostles are a collection of limestone stacks off the shore of the Port Campbell National Park, by the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia. Their proximity to one another has made the site a popular tourist attraction. Originally the site was called the Sow and Piglets. Muttonbird Island near Loch Ard Gorge was the ‘Sow’ and the smaller rock stacks the ‘Piglets.’[1] The name was changed in the 1950s to the more majestic "The Twelve Apostles" to lure more visitors even though there were only nine left.
The Twelve Apostles are between the towns of
Port Campbell and Princetown on the Great Ocean Road. In the early 2000s a visitor centre was built on the inland side of the road to allow for easy parking and access to the best viewing area.[2] Helicopter rides around the formations are also available.

The view of the limestone stacks is simply beautiful. We were there at about 5:30 p.m. (about an hour before sunset). Great Ocean Road is one of Australia's great coastline scenic drives and it's a must for you to experience if you're heading to Melbourne.
It takes around 4 hours or more (depending on how long you spend during each stop). Bring a fully charged camera with a huge memory card as you would definitely be snapping away - mine is a 2GB, some sandwiches, titbits and drinks (in case you want to munch during the drive), and you're good to go. Oh yes, if you have a GPS it would be much easier, if not a map of Victoria would suffice. I had both with me :)

The other stop we took along the way, was at Loch Ard Gorge.

I love Great Ocean Road!

Please be Careful

As I was driving to work this morning, Traxx FM mentioned there was another snatch theft in KB. The victim was a lady who's 4 months pregnant. Uishh.
This is the 3rd case in 48 hours and all of them did not survive.
What is happening to our country?

With the current economic situation and the increasing number of immigrants in our country, the number of snatch thefts has increased tremendously. Statistics show that there has been an increase of 99% in our capital city which is alarming.

January - March 2009 = 1915 cases
January - March 2008 = 1058 cases

Talking from experience, I was once mugged right in front of the house I rented in mid 2007. The motorcyclists who attacked me had a parang with them and it was at least 12 inches long.

It happened at about 8:30p.m. As I was opening the locks to my front gate, the pillion rider came up to me from behind. I didn't realize at first, not until I felt my bag slipping off my shoulder. I looked back, and I saw this thin man who wore a light yellow T-shirt with a full helmet on. He didn't say a word. I held on my bag, and he pushed me and I fell on the ground.

Still holding my bag, he took out a parang which was so huge I freaked out and released my bag. At that point of time, I thought he was gonna kill me and I was so scared. But I didn't say a word nor did I cry. It happened so fast, then I realized he was back on the bike and I was bleeding. My shirt was soaking with blood and I just screamed on top of my lungs and my parents rushed to get me and my neighbours rushed out. I was crying so bad and my dad had to carry me in the house as I was in a total shocked and I nearly fainted.

After my parents calmed me down, I realized that the guy slashed some skin off the back of my hand, which I assume was when he wanted to cut off the sling of my bag since the parang is very long. The cut was pretty deep but I was glad I wasn't injured elsewhere. I am pretty sure that if I were to retaliate that night and tried to fight for my handbag, I wouldn't have all my limbs still intact as I have today.

The police came over to my house right after, and a little later, my dad drove me to the police station to file a report. Apparently there was another case 10 minutes after the inccident which happened just around the corner of my place. What can I say was that I was just unlucky that night and I was just there at the wrong time. If only I reached my house 5 minutes later, I wouldn't have had to go through what I did.

It was one of the most frightening incidents that had happened to me. And due to this, I didn't go out at night for about 2 months, and I still have a phobia for men on motorcycles until today.

A retiree found my bag somewhere is Sri Aman Secondary School the next day. All my cash, my mobile phones, and my IC were gone. Good thing there was a receipt from my purchases at Cres, Midvalley, and the kind man gave a call to Cres and told them to get in contact with me. My dad and I went over to the good samaritan's home to claim what was left in my bag. My bag was ruined, there were 2 slashes at its sling. They were not jagged and was close to perfect. You can see how sharp the parang was looking how the cuts were made to my leather bag.

My advice to all you women out there, please don't try to fight these thieves, as they are normally armed and will not hesitate to hurt you if they need to. Just let them take your bag, as your life means much, much more!

Take care ladies.

I'm back!

I'm back in the office, after a week in Melbourne and another week in Cairns.

I had a fabulous holiday and wish it didn't have to end.
I was suppose to start work yesterday (I touched down on Sunday morning) but I felt lethargic the whole of Sunday, and I had a really bad headache, so I decided to take another day off.
Now here I am in the office after leaving the office for 2 whole weeks.

I will share my stories and pics soon! Need to clear my emails as much as I can today...
